Monochromatic Series
This series lends itself to beautiful mosaics when combining the light and dark colors next to each other. Adults enjoy the aesthetics, while children fuel their imagination.
Endless narratives are possible through child-led play as children place pieces where they see fit. Allow them to practice what is intuitive. Watch as their imagination kicks in and they say, “Look! I made a _____” or “It looks like a _____”. At this point promote literacy and encourage your child to write a word or sentence about their creation. For example, - This is a rocket ship! Bravo.
Strengthen fine motor skills by having children trace around the shapes to assist in drawing a picture, making their own coloring book! Trace the shapes on construction paper, cut them out then paste them onto paper. A triangle pasted above a square is a house! They can print, house.
Practice collaborative play while following the rules of symmetry. Start with a long rectangle in the center and take turns adding a piece first on the left, then on the right. If a piece is added to the top, the next piece should be placed on the bottom. Use all pieces.
